Toucan Box | Gingerbread House

I'm a little late uploading this one because we did this over the Christmas Holidays. We had a week till Christmas and a handful of boxes to go through; we try and do one every weekend by sometimes life gets busy so we don't always. My biggest boy is easily bored over the holidays and needs something to keep his brain and fingers moving so we managed to catch up a bit over that spare time.

In this box we got the kit to make a Gingerbread House, we were really excited as we'd seen this on the Toucan Box Instagram and Freddie was asking to make one when he saw it on my feed. We pick a box at random and it happened to be this!

It was so cute laying all the pieces out and reading the instructions - Freddie was fascinated with the glitter pens and just wanted to use it everywhere (so we did!). He was really involved and enjoyed this activity, he knew exactly how he wanted it decorated.
Naturally as a boy of 4, he wanted to put it together the second we had finished only to find he had to wait, until the next day when the glue and glitter pens had dried. The shiny smooth card, I don't think, really helped with this process but it didn't matter an awful lot as it gave us a few minutes the next day to slot everything into place and marvel over it.

As ever, everything was included in this box - except scissors (they're never included for obvious reasons, but we do always need them so we gather them before we open the box). It was a really lovely activity and took us a while to complete. We ended up placing it between our decorations and I put it in the Christmas box to get out next year, so you'll definitely see out again!

  1. This looks fab and what skills your child has! I really need to get into more crafty stuff this year for my two, I'm just afraid of the mess but must get over it for their sake x

    1. I'm usually terrible for it too, but I've learnt to live with it for the 30/45 minutes it generally takes (I also cover the area with newspaper to be extra sure - but nothing's guaranteed!)xx
