Toucan Box #4

I've skipped #3 as we were pretty disappointed with it. It was very similar to one we had previously - #2 - so we didn't think it was really worth documenting.

This one was a little different to the ones we've had previously as there was only one activity - I'm thinking it must be to do with costs of materials. However we were pretty excited to get stuck into this one as it was something a little different to do craft-wise.

I mostly cut up the black strips as Freddie was unsure how to do the thin strips, but he did help stick them down with the glue stick provided (everything was apart from scissors and water for paint) and between us decided where the strips would go and how the squares would position. In the pack we got a canvas board, watercolour paints, a paintbrush and foam.

He seemed to really enjoy this activity and jumped into the painting immediately, informing what blocks were going to be what colours. We spoke about what an Artist is and that this style of picture was done by a man who does painting pictures as a job; he was very impressed and said he didn't know about this.

It was a lovely activity to do and something that I wasn't expecting in a craft box and I'm unsure as to why, but it was great fun creating together!

  1. I think these boxes look great. The only thing that has put me off is that I think Bear is probably a bit young at the moment. It is definitely something I'll consider when she's older x

    1. Yeah definitely! I think they recommend from age 3/4 till 8 so probably best to wait till she's older, I only do them with Freddie but I think once Noah starts Nursery I could begin doing them with him too :) xx
