Quiet

I've recently did a 'Life Lately' post where I rounded up the activities and things we've been doing as of late. We were really busy last week, but this week it's gone pretty quiet - it's pretty much been just me and my littlest pottering around. It's been so lovely to be able to focus on him and spend time with him, bless him I always used to feel he was a little left out at times what with Freddie talking constantly and being the bigger one doing everything where he perhaps couldn't, but since Freddie is out of the house most of the week he's been able to spread his wings and just explore at his own rate. He's become a right little cheeky monkey!
I think he's also learning that Freddie isn't around so it's caused a few upsets in the morning when he's leaving the house with Daddy. When Chris doesn't start till later he usually takes Freddie in on his way to the bus stop - I'm sure he also gets upset because they're leaving the house and he isn't but we end up having very reluctant cuddles as we wave goodbye to them and Freddie often protests that he wants to stay at home with me (maybe I should swap them over?) but once they've gone he breaks out into the loudest, heartfelt sobs I've seen and it's so sad. I feel bad for him but he gets past it a few minutes later and we end up having snuggles on the sofa. I get chucked books to read and we watch Tweenies, Mr Bloom (he's a fake!) and two lots of Bing before it slowly rounds up to a nap.

And then it's quiet.
I have until lunchtime to myself and the house is very still. I potter around doing chores and then I blog for a bit because I like to have my evenings again (even that early night!) and it's lovely. I'm liking having some space to properly solider on - It must be a mum thing to really want to press on with chores whilst you've got that spare time and I've been doing a solid hour of chores, every day, all week and I think the house is tidier than it's ever been! It makes me feel better and then I can focus on making lunch for two (oh how much easier is that?) and then it's more playing before we pick up Freddie and then we have all of that to contend with.
I'm finding it's making the mundane stuff more fun again, because we've got a little routine going and being Friday - I'm excited for the weekend. I'm looking forward to Freddie's word bank learning and catching up on his latest story, also to having some lazy time with him (we've got another Toucan Box that's arrived this morning so I'm sure we'll fit that in on Sunday!). We've also got Chris most of the weekend which is going to be lovely - we do miss him too!
Quiet and Routine, I think a mixture of these two are very good for the soul!

  1. I think you're right, some quiet time is bliss and a routine that's not too rigid means everyone knows where they are :) #wotw

    1. I find things work best once you've established a natural routine, I'm by no means strict with it but we've all settled well with it :) xx
